Waller Reed

(b. 3/8/1949, USA) Reed Waller created the immensely popular anthropomorphic adults-only series Omaha The Cat Dancer with his then-wife, Kate Worley. They publicly came out as bisexual in their letters column in 1988, making them the first openly bisexual creators in comics. They have had characters of all sexual orientations in their series, which moved from Kitchen Sink Press to Fantagraphics Books, which has several volumes of Omaha in print (including Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, and Vol. 4). Reed's work has included stories in Gay Comics, Strip AIDS USA, Critters, Grateful Dead Comix, Real Girl, and the collections All American Hippie Comix and The Erotic Art of Reed Waller............Worley Kate,best known for her writing on the successful, adults-only series, Omaha The Cat Dancer, Kate Worley has worked on projects as diverse as Gay Comics, the 1995 Wonder Woman Annual, the Universal Horror Movie trading card set, John Jakes' Mullkon Empire for Tekno Comics, Roger Rabbit Adventures, and the new Jonny Quest series for Dark Horse. Kate publicly came out as bisexual in the Omaha letters column in 1988, making her and her then-husband Reed Waller the first openly bisexual creators in comics. There are several collected volumes of Omaha in print, and Worley and Waller had reunited to work on new Omaha material, but unfortunately she passed away after a battle with cancer on June 6th, 2004.
